Short spoken word poetry:
Tampisaw
Masarap

The LRMC said that the phase 1 of the
11.7-kilometer LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project has reached an overall progress
of 73 percent as of August 2022.
This covers completed electromechanical
works such as laying of rails and installation of the electrical system and the
construction of the five additional LRT-1 stations including Redemptorist, MIA,
PITX Asia World, Ninoy Aquino, and Dr. A. Santos Avenue.
The extension project will run from
Baclaran, Parañaque to Niog in Bacoor, Cavite. It is expected to cut travel
time from Manila to Cavite from more than an hour to 25 minutes.
With the ongoing installation of tracks
and overhead catenary system on the viaduct at Ninoy Aquino Station, the
northbound outer lane of the Imelda Bridge connecting Barangays La Huerta and
Sto. Niño in Parañaque City is temporarily closed for a month until November
10, 2022 from 9AM to 4PM.
Meanwhile, the northbound innermost lane
of CAVITEX-Parañaque Bridge will be closed starting 7AM of October 15 until
11AM October 16, 2022 to give way for column and pier cleanup including
finishing works. Motorists are advised
to take alternative routes during the scheduled temporary closures in order to
avoid heavy traffic.

Banking on an earlier idea to make the
main airport the country's central park, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano floated a
proposal to divide it into two and name them after former president Ferdinand
Marcos Sr. and the late Senator Ninoy Aquino. During a hearing on the
Department of Public Works and Highways's (DPWH) proposed 2023 budget, Cayetano
pushed for the construction of more sustainable and green projects, such as
parks, which could complement efforts to mitigate flooding. In 1983, Aquino,
the staunchest critic of Marcos, was assassinated at NAIA, then known as the
Manila International Airport (MIA). In 1987, Republic Act 6639 renamed the MIA
to NAIA during President Corazon Aquino's administration. Other senators said
the DPWH can also build sports facilities and recreational spaces, including
more bike lanes, for the public.

The Philippines has the
second worst retirement income system among 44 nations, making it one of the
worst retirement countries globally, according to Mercer CFA Institute Global
Pension Index (MCGPI).
In the latest iteration of the MCGPI released on Tuesday (October
11), the Philippines ranked 43rd out of 44 economies included on the list, with
an overall score of 42.0—slightly lower than the 42.7 in 2021. According to
MCGPI, the country’s overall score, or index value, decreased slightly
“primarily due to some minor adjustments.”
Similar to last year’s data, the Philippines again received a
D-grade classification this year, which, according to Mercer and CFA Institute,
meant that the country’s retirement income system has some desirable features. Via
