Ph Election 2022

March 12, 2022 - Majority of the members of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) have expressed support to the Marcos-Duterte tandem during the group’s general assembly on Tuesday night.

“Sila (LMP mayors) ang pinapakinggan ko. I just follow the majority, and the majority of them are supporting BBM. Basta sinusunod ko lang ’yung mga mayors, majority of them are supporting BBM and Sara,” Singson explained in an interview held at Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City.

According to LMP president and Narvacan, Ilocos Sur Mayor Luis “Chavit” Singson, Sr., 80% of LMP, or 1,200 out of 1,480 mayor-members support the UniTeam duo. He also added that the May 2022 elections might produce a president who wins out of majority of votes, instead of plurality.

A total of 230 policemen from the Eastern Visayas police in Tacloban City will be deployed in Samar as part of security preparations for the upcoming May 9 general elections.

Eastern Visayas police director Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac clarified that the move was a part of the initiatives of the police in securing the elections, and not because Calbayog City or Samar were deemed election hot spots.

“This is just to send a message to all that the police in the region is ready to address all possible eventualities,” Banac said, adding that the local police needed beefing up due to recent crimes that occurred in the province.
