Cloud seeding to be done for Angat Dam Water level growth

7-March-2022 | Cloud Seeding shall start this March until April 2022 to help increase the Water supply of Angat Dam, which is the majority water supply of Metro Manila for Domestic and Irrigation. The Water elevation level of Angat Dam today, March 7 is 195.31 meters from its NHWL or Normal High water level of 212 meters while 217m is the spilling level.

Ipo Dam Elevation level is 98.48m from 101m Normal level and La Mesa Dam is 78.20m from 80.15m Normal level based on MWSS or Metropolitan Waterworks and sewerage System Public Advisory.

Facebook posts from the PAF’s 900th Air Force Weather Group (AFWG) indicated that it had carried out cloud seeding operations in recent days, mostly in Palawan, Bulacan and Metro Manila in May 2020. Some parts of Luzon have experienced rainfall in recent days, partly because of the cloud seeding operations conducted by the Philippine Air Force (PAF).

Their concern is man-made rain might not directly pour the dam henceforth they are doing other resolutions to increase the water supply according to TV news report.

However, Environment groups are concern about the adverse effects of seeding the clouds such as unwanted ecological changes, ozone depletion, continued ocean acidification, erratic changes in rainfall patterns, rapid warming if seeding were to be stopped abruptly, airplane effects, to name a few, may just not be bad enough to override the imperative to keep temperatures down.

We are just doing this to sustain the water needs of consumers hence we do this while there is few to zero rainfall like dry season or summer.
