ECOSIA.COM is now planting in PH

Eco-friendly search engine Ecosia has finally started planting trees in the Philippines!
In a Facebook post last Tuesday, March 30, 2021, Ecosia announced that they have begun planting trees in Panipiason, Madalag, Aklan.
“Some of you spotted it in our financial reports already, but we wanted to make it official: we're now planting trees in the Philippines,” the post read.

Ecosia has partnered with NTFP-EP Philippines, a network of non-governmental organizations and community-based organizations, and Samahang Madalagnon na Nagkakaisa (SAMANA) to identify sites where they can plant native trees and wild abaca that naturally grow in the forest of Panipiason.
“The Akeanon-Bukidnon indigenous peoples of Aklan have long relied on the harvest and trade of abaca fibers from the abaca plant as a major source of income. The planting of native trees in their landscape will not only diversify the landscape, but lead to healthier forests and sustained livelihoods for communities,” Ecosia said.
Ecosia is an organization that makes profit using ad revenues from netizens who use their search engine platform.
The profit is then used to plant trees across the globe, including countries like Indonesia, Colombia, Peru, Spain, Morocco, Ghana, Senegal, Brazil, and now, the Philippines. (Photos courtesy of Ecosia)
